Market

An order that executes at the best available price.

Limit

An order that will execute at a specified price, or better.

Box top

This order type starts as a market order purchasing at the best available price, but upon transacting the first asset, it transforms into a limit order at that price.

Stop-loss

This order type is a conditional stage that can be applied to positions to close a trade if the trader’s principal value falls below a specified threshold.

Stop market

A market order that is executed when a specific trigger price is reached, wherein the trigger price is higher than the trading price at deployment.

Stop limit

A limit order that is executed when a specific trigger price is reached, wherein the trigger price is higher than the trading price at deployment.

Take profit market

This order type is a variant of a take profit order, wherein an asset is divested as a market order upon reaching a predefined price trigger.

Take profit limit

This order type is a variant of a take profit order, wherein an asset is divested as a limit order upon reaching a predefined profit margin.

Bracket

An order that is being “bracketed” by two side orders - which when activated, lock in profits or reduce losses.

Slippage tolerance

This parameter is the maximum allowable price difference between the initial trading price and the final execution price.

Market if touched

A market order that is executed when a specific trigger price is reached, wherein the trigger price is lower than the trading price at deployment.

Limit if touched

A limit order that is executed when a specific trigger price is reached, wherein the trigger price is lower than the trading price at deployment.

Trailing market if touched

A market buy order that has an adjusting activation trigger price linked to the current trading price.

Trailing stop-loss

A sell order that has an adjusting activation trigger price linked to the current trading price.

Dollar cost average

This order type allows you to acquire or divest from an asset at fixed rate intervals and pre-agreed transaction sizes.

Iceberg

This order type divides a large order into several tranches, where each segment is sent to the order book only once the prior one has been filled. 

Fill or kill

This order type will only execute if there is enough liquidity to fill the entire order otherwise it automatically cancels.

All or none

An order that can’t be partially filled.

Immediate or cancel

An order that attempts to execute all or part of itself immediately and then cancels any unfilled portion of the order.

Good til canceled

An order that is indefinitely active until filled or canceled.

Good til date

An order that terminates at a specific date.

Good this week

An order that terminates at the end of the current calendar week.

Good this month

An order that terminates by the end of the current calendar month.

Good after day

An order that activates after a future date.

Good in between

An order that has a start and end date.
